In the recent years tracker dog collars are used to facilitate training and improve its efficiency. It is a plastic body the size of which is two match boxes weighing about 50 grams, and two iron pins directed inward collar.
The tracker dog collars are worn with the regular collar so that it has direct contact with the dog’s neck. Many trainers and experts in behavioral consider the electrical collar as more humane mean than, for example, a strict collar or a halter. The impact of using the electrical collar does not cause a direct conflict between the trainer and the dog; it is connected probably with discomfort than pain of the animal. And of course the big plus is the ability to impact on the dog at a great distance from it.
The dog owners can use it for the following purposes:
1)to block certain instincts dogs that are incompatible with life in this environment (hunting for cats and birds in the city, animals in the village, aggression to other dogs and so on). Although it provides a relatively high impact of intensity, it is better for the animal than to get under the car or cause a crash. For the owner it is also better to use it than to cause resentment and dislike of the neighbors and the owners of the other dogs all the time.
2) to maintain earlier fixed skills. In this case the impacts at the law levels are used. They can be described as discomfort but not as pain.
3) for training without the mechanical impact. It refers to the lowest levels of stimulation that are literally on the verge of some inconvenience. Such training is good for smaller dogs and those for whom the mechanical effect is a lot of stress.
The basic method of work with the tracker dog collars.
The whole procedure is divided into several stages:
1. The first preparatory stage is adaptation to the tracker dog collars. Fake or off tracker dog collar is worn on the walks and exercises about two weeks;
2. During the second preparatory stage it is necessary to use the skills that are well known to the dog. It is advisable to use at least three disparate skills. Typical set is “me”, “location”, “excerpt”. Skills are practiced alternately, within a few days each one. At this stage, stimulation of the weak level is previous to the command. The continuous stimulation is used; the command is served almost immediately after its start. The moment of off stimulation depends on the skill. Usually it is better to alleviate the dog understanding of the task on the maximum, the raised platforms, cages, leashes, fixtures are used;
3. Use of the tracker dog collar for training and polishing of the skills.
Before you begin training with the dog using the tracker dog collars, be sure to define the purpose of training. It is necessary to use the tracker dog collar as it is a mean of “pressure” and you must be careful in order not to “beat” the dog. That is why it is recommended to use the services of an instructor who primarily takes an interest in what capacity you are going to use the dog: as a friend, protector, guard, companion, etc. In accordance with all these wishes the instructor will develop a training program for you.
